Boumedienne assigned to Maple Leafs affiliate

Josef Boumedienne was today assigned to the Maple Leafs affiliate team, the Toronto Marlies in the AHL.

2 Algerians score in France

Three Algerian players featured in the French Division 2 game between Evry and Rouen on saturday, Hakim Boukhaloua and Mohamed Benyahia for Evry and Nordine Mahdidi for Rouen. Boukhaloua scored Evry’s first goal while Mahdidi received a 2 minute penalty.

In another Division 2 game Kevin Benchabane got a goal for Toulouse in a 7-3 win over Clermont.

Tunisia starts ice hockey

Following on from Morocco and Algeria, Tunisia becomes the 3rd North African country to establish ice hockey. Tunisia currently has one small ice rink in Hammamet. Tunisian ice hockey is run by Paris player Ihab Ayed, and is looking for more players. If you’re an ice or inline hockey player of any level and of Tunisian origin, contact Ihab at Tunisia.hockey@yahoo.fr .
Notable players of Tunisian origin are former NHLer Ramzi Abid and Semir Ben-Amor from Finland.

Boumedienne and Litim both get assists

Josef Boumedienne got an assist for Toronto Maple Leafs in pre-season game against  Pittsburgh Penguins, eventually losing 3-2,  meanwhile MVP of the Arab Cup, Harond Litim, got an assist and 16 penalty minutes in Viry’s first game of the season in France’s Division 1.
